Volunteer Opportunities
Our need for volunteers at the Caleb communities is always expanding. The greatest need for volunteers is to help directly with residents in a variety of activities at the community center. Our mission to address each spirit at a time while creating community means that there is a place for everyone no matter their talents or time constraints.
Here are a few examples of how you can become part of the Caleb village:
- Teach computer skills
- Help youth with homework
- Mentor youth and young parents
- Visit elderly or homebound residents
- Serve on a local Caleb coalition
- Conduct a special class or work project
- Tutor in reading or English lessons

New England towns where Caleb communities are located include: Lowell and North Adams, MA; Henniker, Nashua and Whitefield, NH; Portland, Lewiston, Bangor, Saco and Old Orchard Beach, ME; and Willimantic, CT.
Caleb Caregivers
A highlight of the volunteering spirit is in Whitefield, New Hampshire.
The Caleb Caregivers, now a separate 501 (c)(3) trains volunteers to go out into the community to serve elderly in their own homes. In 2002 over 119 local people gave 4,500 hours "traveling 35,100 miles" of their time to make sure that 211 elderly of Whitefield and surrounding towns got to where they need to be, were kept warm in the winter, had company when they needed it, and much more.
